ABPA Harrington-Arthur Memorial Scholarship
The American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA) prevents dangerous bacteria, chemicals and other harmful agents from entering local water supplies. The association would like to award scholarships to students who seek to better understand this process. To apply, students must submit an essay (700–1,200 words) that explains the importance of backflow prevention and how it protects our water resources.

Calling all Jones Basketball Alumni!!! Jones High School Basketball Homecoming is Tuesday January 15. We would like all former Jones Basketball Players to attend. We will recognize all Jones Basketball Alumni at halftime of the varsity girl’s game which begins at 6:30.

Congratulations to Caitlyn Coffey! She was awarded the Kidizenship award sponsored by the Moran Family from the Oklahoma Institute Child Advocacy. She was awarded this for her 4H Project Heartwarming lap blankets . She started this project in the 7th grade. She made 50 blankets and took to the Harrah Nursing Home. She then took to a foster home and the last two years she has been taking these blankets to the Ronald McDonald House. We would like to thank the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy and Mr. Joe Dorman for coming in and recognizing Caitlyn.

JHS Students: Chad Cargill will be doing an ACT Prep workshop at Jones High School on March 13 from 9am to Noon. Cost is $30.00. If you want to attend sign up and pay in counselors office.

All sophomores will meet with Mr. Moses on Thursday January 10 during 5th hour in the commons. Students will receive their PREACT scores and Mr. Moses will do a broad overview explanation of results.

Jones Juniors and Seniors interested in Connors state:
Senior Day is February 19 9 am to noon in the Fine Arts building of the Warner Campus. They will be doing campus tours, free tshirt and lunch. This is an opportunity to visit with professors, coaches and campus organizations.

JHS STUDENTS: The OKC Thunder invite you to participate in the 2019 Black Heritage Creative Contest. This contest challenges Oklahoma students in kindergarten through 12th grade to use their creativity in honoring an outstanding individual in black history or an impactful African-American in their lives. Students are encouraged to create an essay, art piece, collage or video describing their hero and how they've had an impact on their life.
Winners in each of five age groups will receive a Thunder prize pack, including four tickets to the Thunder vs. Sacramento Kings home game on Feb. 23, recognition at center court prior to the game, an autographed Thunder item and $500. Select entries will be displayed on the concourse at Chesapeake Energy Arena during the Feb. 23 game.
Students can enter online, drop off in-person or mail their entries, along with a completed entry form, to the Thunder Corporate offices no later than Feb. 11, 2019.

JHS Students: The Developmental Disabilities Council (DDCO) is pleased to announce the 16th Annual Oklahoma Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) June 11 - 15, 2019 at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The YLF is a unique leadership program for high school students with and without disabilities. YLF teaches students how to take charge of their lives and gives opportunities for students to lead. We challenge our youth to get ready for life’s opportunities and learn to manage life’s challenges. Selected students will develop important life skills to assist them in reaching their life and career goals.
Up to 25 students statewide will be selected to represent their communities as a delegate at the YLF. To be eligible to attend the YLF, students must:
• Be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade as of December 19, 2018.
• For students with a disability, they should have a documented disability (we’ve had students attend with intellectual disabilities, significant learning disabilities, physical disabilities and/or mental health diagnosis).
• For students without a disability, they should have an interest in working with others who have a disability or be a sibling of a person with a disability.
• Have demonstrated leadership potential in their school and community.
• Reside in Oklahoma.
