Congratulations to Caitlyn Coffey! She was awarded the Kidizenship award sponsored by the Moran Family from the Oklahoma Institute Child Advocacy. She was awarded this for her 4H Project Heartwarming lap blankets . She started this project in the 7th grade. She made 50 blankets and took to the Harrah Nursing Home. JHS Students: The Developmental Disabilities Council (DDCO) is pleased to announce the 16th Annual Oklahoma Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) June 11 - 15, 2019 at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The YLF is a unique leadership program for high school students with and without disabilities. YLF teaches students how to take charge of their lives and gives opportunities for students to lead. We challenge our youth to get ready for life’s opportunities and learn to manage life’s challenges. Selected students will develop important life skills to assist them in reaching their life and career goals. Up to 25 students statewide will be selected to represent their communities as a delegate at the YLF. To be eligible to attend the YLF, students must: • Be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade as of December 19, 2018. • For students with a disability, they should have a documented disability (we’ve had students attend with intellectual disabilities, significant learning disabilities, physical disabilities and/or mental health diagnosis). • For students without a disability, they should have an interest in working with others who have a disability or be a sibling of a person with a disability. • Have demonstrated leadership potential in their school and community. • Reside in Oklahoma. If you are interested see Mr. Moses for more information and how to apply.
