Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation Scholarships More than $12,000 will be awarded to students whose families are involved in the Oklahoma beef cattle industry. All applicants must be a graduating high school senior in the spring of the current year or a current student at an Oklahoma college or university with definite plans to continue in the fall. Jane Austin Society of North America Essay Contest JASNA conducts an annual student Essay Contest to foster the study and appreciation of Jane Austen's work. The contest is open to high school, college/university and graduate students who appreciate the writings of Jane Austin. Participants must write an essay on the following topic: 2019 Contest Topic Abbey Gatehouse Reading Abbey Gatehouse, where Jane and Cassandra Austen attended school from 1785-1786 In honor of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's novel Northanger Abbey, we welcome essays on following topic: Northanger Abbey can be described as a book about books. There is, of course, the well-known "defense of the novel,” but characters also discuss their reading habits, name specific novels, and even consider history books. In her works, Austen often makes use of fiction, poetry or plays, either explicitly or indirectly. Explore how she does this in Northanger Abbey. High school students may bring in another Austen novel but are not required to do so; undergraduate and graduate students must bring in one or more additional novels. Parents mark your calendars! Jones High School will be celebrating the academic accomplishments of our students at our Academic Awards Assembly on May 9 at 9:30 am. This event will be held in our high school commons. We would love to have you in attendance. JHS students and parents: Reminder there is no school this Friday, April 12. Jones administration, staff and students from Jones High School are participating in the 4th Annual OKC Bridge Conference. This is a conference for those in education, business and government to create awareness, make connections, and collaboratively brainstorm solutions for the many challenges that face our city. It is hosted by the OKC/County Health Department, Wellness Now Equity Group and Stronger Together. Participants in this conference will press into critical issues of systemic poverty as well as racial and class divisions that are present. Below are pictures of two of our JHS students, Tessa Dorrell and Michael Chapple, sharing at this conference.

JHS Seniors: The Jones All Sports Association is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship. This scholarship is an honor for a Jones High School Senior that has been involved in Longhorn athletics. This $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to (1) deserving senior athlete that will be pursuing their college education in the upcoming fall college semester. It is intended for students who have not already received a full tuition scholarship. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: • Must have actively participated on any Jones athletic team including little league and be a current senior in Jones High School. You do not have to currently be participating in a high school sport. • Must enroll in college the upcoming fall semester after high school graduation Postmark deadline is April 30.
