JHS students interested in petroleum engineering: The University of Tulsa is hosting a petroleum engineering open house on Thursday, March 28 from 5-7pm. Jones Students looking for summer job: The City of MWC is looking for summer Lifeguard, Pool Cashier, Pool Manager or Summer Camp Worker this Summer, stop by City Hall (100 N Midwest Blvd, at the corner of Midwest Blvd and Reno Ave) or visit our website midwestcityok.org/jobs to fill out an application. Students 15 1/2 and older are eligible for all positions, while students age 15 are only eligible to be pool cashiers at this time.

Ralph Waldo Ellison was an American Novelist from Oklahoma. He was also a literary ciritca nd scholar. Ellison is best know for his novel "The Invisible Man" which won the National Book Award in 1953.

Mae Carol Jemison is an American Engineer, Physician, and NASA Astronaut. She became the first African AMerican woman to travel in space when she went into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour on September 12, 1992. After Medical School and a brief general practice, Jemison served in the Peace Corps and then was selected by NASA to join the astronaut corps. She resigned from NASA in 1993 to found a company researching the application of technology to daily life. She has appeared on television several times including an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. She is a dancer and holds nine honorary doctorates. SHe is quoted, " Don't let anyone rob you of your imagination, your creativity, or your curiosity. Go on and do all you can with it, and make it the life you want to live"
