JHS SENIORS GPACAC awards up to three scholarships to students in the Great Plains each year. The scholarship amount ranges from $500 to $1,000 per student. Seniors planning to go to SWOSU REminder: . SWOSU’s PLC application deadline is February 1st. All PLC application materials must be received by February 1st. Please take a moment to remind any of your students that might be interested in being a part of this select group of leaders to complete their applications by February 1st. Only complete PLC applications will undergo the selection committee review process and a selected group of students will take part in campus interviews. Students chosen for interviews will be notified by phone during the week of February 18th – 22nd. At that time, they will select their PLC interview date from five different interview options available on February 28th(2 sessions) March 1st, March 4th or March 5th. Interview dates are available on a first come/first serve basis. The Freshman Academic Scholarship application remains March 1st. All freshmen admitted by the March 1st will be in the academic scholarship applicant pool. Please be sure that SWOSU is kept up to date on ACT/SAT scores posted prior to the March 1st deadline.

Jones High School Juniors: New Opportunities Scholars Eligibility: • A junior attending a high school participating in the Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network. • Be the first in their family to attend college. For the purpose of this scholarship program, the definition of “first in the family” is that applicant or applicant’s parents, stepparents or grandparents have not attended college. • Unweighted GPA must be less than or equal to 3.79 and be in the upper 50th percentile of their junior class. The Process: If you are recommended by the Scholarship Selection Committee of your high school, you and your parent/guardian will sign a contract stating applicant will complete a series of college preparatory activities including: • Working during the summer between your junior and senior year • Participating in a college campus visit accompanied by your parent. By January 15th of your senior year, your high school guidance counselor must provide certification of these activities to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. If all of the required activities have been completed, you will receive the documents necessary to claim a one-year scholarship of $2,000. Funds may be used for tuition, fees and books at any academically accredited two-year, four-year or vocational/technical nonprofit institution in the United States. 2019 National Federation of the Blind Scholarship Program The National Federation of the Blind offers thirty scholarships annually to blind students from across the United States. Awards are open to individuals studying eligible engineering or computer science majors, who demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities.
